- Have a shower rather than a bath and save up to 50 litres (five buckets!) of water.
- Ring Northumbrian Water for a free save-a-flush for your toilet cistern and save one litre of water every time you flush.
- Stop dripping taps, which waste up to 13 litres (more than a bucket) of water every day.
- Avoid running water to waste whilst you wait for the hot tap to run hot – fill a bowl with the cool water and re-use it.
- Turn the tap off while you brush your teeth and save 10 litres (a bucket) of water.
- Clean vegetables in a bowl rather than under a running tap and save 23 litres (two buckets) of water.
- Ensure washing machines and dishwashers are full before use – they use between 35 and 80 litres of water for every cycle.
- Consider installing a water meter to encourage e everyone in your home to conserve water.
- Wash the car using a bucket and sponge instead of a hosepipe and save 300 (30 buckets) of water.
